On July 11, the White House announced that it would send a delegation to visit China. Wedemeyer conducted field investigations for more than a month, visiting Nanjing, Taipei, Guangzhou, Shanghai, North China, Northeast China, and other places.  On the eve of his departure from China on August 24, Wedemeyer published a very Frank speech in the press. In a word, he criticized the "spiritually insolvent" of Chiang Kai-shek's regime. This kind of frankness and frankness is the duty of Wedemeyer, but for Chiang Kai-shek, it is naturally harsh and embarrassing. We learned from Gu Weijun's memoirs that Foreign Minister Wang Shijie telegraphed Ambassador Gu that "the chairman and other responsible government personnel expressed indignation at Wedemeyer's speech." He was not only angry, but also "quite angry." He was not only disgusted, but also "very disgusted," accusing Wedemeyer of being "arrogant.". Because of these "antipathy" and "anger," Wedemeyer hosted a farewell banquet for Chiang Kai-shek before leaving China. Chiang made an excuse not to go, and Soong Mei-ling represented him. However,Fish measuring board, just as his wife was on her first trip to the banquet, Wei also cancelled the banquet because of fatigue. (See Ku Wei-chun's Memoirs, Vol. 6, pp. 193-195.) Chiang Kai-shek felt humiliated, and there was no doubt about it. An American general came to China to "investigate" at will, which was already suspected of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, but Chiang welcomed it and was willing to hand over power to Wedemeyer. He criticized it wantonly, especially when he said that China needed a leader who could inspire the masses at present. He felt particularly embarrassed and could not explain it to himself. Although he asked Ambassador Situ not to criticize Wedemeyer too much, Mr. Ambassador said that it was not convenient to interfere. In fact, the pro-chiang ambassador's private endorsement of the harsh verdict had a chilling effect (see Rea & Brewer ed., the Forgotten Ambassador, P. 133, Wheel tape measure ,cattle weight tape, 137), always asking for help is like eating other people's food, the mouth is soft, the waist is dry and can not stand up. Chiang Kai-shek claimed that Mao Zedong was a vassal of Soviet Russia, but he did not know the advantages and disadvantages of the vassal United States. Hu Shizhi pointed out that Soviet Russia was the "supreme government" of the Communist Party of China, and did not realize that the United States was Chiang Kai-shek's "supreme government".  Their defeat, in my opinion, was entirely due to the worst control in the world, and other demoralizing factors, so that they had no fighting spirit at all. (Read Margaret Truman,Walking tape measure, Harry S. TrumanP 411) At this point, the Truman administration had come to a clear conclusion: unless the United States was willing to spend billions of yuan to send millions of US troops to China to assist in the war, it would be a waste of Chiang's reinforcements. tapemeasure.net
